Fall Forward: What Are You Taking With You In This Next Season?

fall Sep 10, 2026

As someone who loves summer, it's hard to let go of time at the lake, outside entertaining, and gathering my family and friends in a place that continues to bring joy, new relationships, and love.

But seasons change, and it's time to move forward.

With most things in my life, I like to shift my mindset on what's ahead, rather than what's behind. And although reconnecting back home is always a process for me, it's necessary for creating new rhythms in this next season.

I've been thinking about the idea of a fall reset, and if instead of thinking about "falling back," we reframed it as falling forward?

Because fall doesn't have to mean going back to the grind or leaving behind everything we loved about summer.

It can be a time to pause and reflect.

So let me ask you, “What did you love about this summer?”

Was it more time with family? Long conversations? Sitting by the water and traveling, a favorite find, gathering around a table, laughing more, and slowing down?

Whatever it was, don't let the change of seasons make you forget it. There may be pieces of that summer rhythm you want to carry with you intentionally.

And then there are the things we're ready to leave behind.

The pressure to do it all. The comparison. The commitments that drain us. The expectations we've placed on ourselves. The things that simply no longer fit who we are becoming.

We don't have to carry everything forward. Sometimes moving forward requires letting go.

Looking ahead, what do you want this next season to feel like?

You don't have to have it all figured out.

You have to be willing to take the next intentional step and make room for what’s ahead.

So this fall, instead of falling back, let's fall forward.

3 Things to Ponder This Season

KEEP: What brought you joy this summer that you want to carry into fall intentionally?

RELEASE: What are you ready to leave behind?

LOOK FORWARD: What are you genuinely excited about in this next season?

I'll start…

What I'm keeping: Quiet time in the mornings

What I'm releasing: Unhealthy expectations

What I am looking forward to: Unhurried time with family and friends

Remember, a new season doesn't require a new you. Sometimes it simply requires a fresh perspective.

Fall forward, friend. There is still so much ahead.
